The moment a product’s density becomes inconsistent, auger accuracy starts to drift. Products with variable moisture content or mixed particle sizes, like some namkeen blends or seed mixes, can throw off volumetric measurement even with a well calibrated auger.

A multihead weigher does not measure by volume at all. It weighs small portions across multiple heads and combines the closest combination to the target weight, which makes it far more accurate for irregular products regardless of shape or density variation. Multihead weighers typically cost more upfront and require more maintenance attention than auger systems, since they involve more moving parts and calibration points.
